Pencarrow, Bodmin, PL30 3AG

Pencarrow gardens, laid out in the early 1800’s by William Molesworth, boast significant historic features, including the Italian Garden, the Rockery, the wonderful One mile long Carriage Drive lined by conifers & shrubs, the Rounds – an ancient British encampment, a walled kitchen garden and an ice house.

The gardens range from formal landscapes to ancient woodlands, with spectacular displays of bluebells and wild garlic in May and June (which we may see the beginnings of) and hundreds of varieties of rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias.

Our tour will be led by head gardener Gavin Vague.

Tremough, Penryn, TR10 9FE

The garden at Tremough, the campus for the Universities of Falmouth & Exeter, is a blend of historical sub-tropical planting with newly created landscapes.  It boasts a number of interesting features from the Italian garden, to a walled garden and a collection of rhododendrons, dating back to the 1800’s.

The lime tree avenue dates back to the 18th century, when a herd of deer, rather than a group of students, may have been found roaming.

It is a garden that continues to evolve with plans for the future including a nut orchard and bamboo area. Our tour will be led by the Head Gardener Toby Nenning.

Cost: £3.00 pp. Parking £2.00.  No dogs

Please meet at the entrance to the Sports Hall.

Refreshments available on campus or on Commercial road in Penryn.
