Spring 2014

This winter has proved to be very testing in many ways, with the weather being only a minor distraction.

I am very sad to report that Peter del Tufo, our stalwart Treasurer, passed away on 23rd January resulting from a melanoma that spread from his eye.  I am sure that you join me in sending our heartfelt sympathy to Ianthe.   He took over from David Oliver in the autumn of 2009 and has been a rock for the Trust over the last few years and his knowledge, generosity and humour will be greatly missed.  Remembrances of him are at http://remembering-peter.tumblr.com/.

Clare Stacey, who only recently took on the role of Secretary, has unfortunately had to step down from the post due to personal circumstances.

The Trust has been able to offer bursaries to two students at Duchy College.

Now the snowdrops are out we are on the cusp of spring and the new growth that we all look forward to is almost with us.  With any luck the wind and rain we have suffered over the last two months will soon be a fading memory.

We have a wonderful programme of visits for this year.  One highlight is the opportunity to take advantage of our President’s hospitality at Antony.  Many thanks go to Jean Marcus for arranging this.

The AGM will be at Trerice on Saturday 10th May.  It is hoped that a weekend slot will allow more of our members to attend.
