About Us

The Cornwall Gardens Trust, first formed in 1988, works to raise awareness of this county’s garden heritage and to conserve and foster it for the benefit of present and future generations.

More than 220 members support our aims to encourage appropriate garden restoration and conservation, the creation of new gardens, and our encouragement of primary and secondary schools and young people to participate in the care and enjoyment of designed landscapes.

There is also an annual programme of garden visits, regular Newsletters, and an annual Journal to enjoy.

Our garden heritage is unique and precious – and we need to save it from inappropriate development and neglect. We seek to encourage continuing public awareness and appreciation of garden land.

By agreement with the owners, Cornwall Gardens Trust researches and records gardens of interest for an archival county record. We organise a varied programme of events and visits, and are also involved in education projects.

Becoming a member enables you to show your support for our important work and offers opportunities to meet others through the events and social programmes. Cornwall Gardens Trust is a founder member of The Association of Gardens Trusts, which links over 6000 Gardens Trust members throughout the country.

You will find details about all the Trust’s activities on this site but, for any more general information, please contact our Secretary by email to cgtsecretary@gmail.com.

Garden Visits 2022

We are delighted to attach CGT Garden Visits Programme for 2022. After having to postpone our visits to Eagles Nest and Tremough for the last two years due to the pandemic, we are very pleased to finally be able to confirm these.

Eagles Nest we know will be very popular, so we have two groups of up to 20, in the morning and again in the afternoon. Please let us know which time you would prefer and we will try to accommodate your preference where possible.

Tregrehan is one of the great Cornish Gardens and one that we are sure you will all enjoy, and we will confirm the proposed visit to Patrick Gale’s garden at Trevilley as soon as we can.

The visit to the Budock Vean includes a guided garden tour and full afternoon tea, preceded by the AGM which will also update everyone on the Future of the CGT. We hope as many of you as possible can attend.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
